About Anthony

Developed an interest in how things work at a young age and especially enjoyed Craft, Design & Technology and Electronics at school, designing and making a PIR circuit board for auto light control with added feature of reducing sensitivity to small animals such as dogs/cats..a bit of a novelty back in 1990.

1999 Hotel off Great Portland Street is where he started working in maintenance industry as the Maintenance Manager, overseeing outside contractors and managing staff.

2001-3 was spent working in property refurbishment across London, while studying evening class in Walthamstow College. Everything from socket replacement to complete kitchen & bathroom installations.

2003 to present day Electrician working for housing associations, local council, estate agents, small businesses, private landlords and homeowners across London.

Mostly Electrical fault finding, repairs and upgrades, emergency lights testing etc. Probably getting on for 1,000 EICR's (Electrical Inspection Condition Reports) completed to date, which are perhaps surprisingly intense and demanding to complete with integrity, given the minimal time generally allocated to them.

Selecting suitable parts an ongoing learning experience as products, technology and manufactures change and evolve, as do risks and regulations, notably more recently regarding E bikes and lithium batteries in general, for example. for more info Electrical Safety First - Powering change + saving lives

Products used can make a massive difference to safety and reliability and generally Anthony never gets involved with anything bought via social media / the 'internet', or indeed for that matter certain brands he has black listed for being 'junk' class.

The electrical work over 20 years has also helped him understand the  structures of many different building types from 16th century thatched cottage to The Barbican and everything in-between.

This helps a lot with cable routing, fire rating and sound proofing for example. Understanding principles fire ratings an important part of the job...the electrical  regulations( BS:7671) are actually mostly built around fire risk reductions.

He has also has worked with some of the best carpenters, plumbers and painters over the years and can do small Project Management of property refurbishments, offering long term value for money, by applying correct principles.

Being passionate about the environment also, including noise and light pollution,   (the latter being recently legislated for) he like's to treat site waste from building projects  following government guidelines or better, if possible, by separating out waste and processing correctly.

Regarding  recycling,  a BBC story about  a 90 year old chap who built a  Hobbit Home ( click here) out of recycled stuff.

some customer reviews

Tottenham

Ant is an excellent electrician who was very helpful when I renovated  part of my house. It also involved installing armoured cable, and he was able to advise on capacity and routing, taking into account my needs and concerns.
At a different time I had a lighting circuit failure which he was able to diagnose rapidly and then find and repair a tricky electrical problem quickly and efficiently.

I highly recommend him.

Norwood

Ant has done several big jobs for us since we bought our flat. He has always been reliable and thorough. He took the time to find out exactly what we needed/ wanted, talked us through options/ costs and explained exactly what the work would involve. Highly recommended.

Orpington

We were very happy with Ant Electric's work for a house we just bought. This included checking electrical connections, completing an electrical report, wiring and general maintenance and renovation of appliances. Everything was done to a very high standard, and is working extremely well. We were especially impressed with the efficiency and working within time limits.
